The Calgary Stampede Queens’ Alumni Committee is a diverse and dynamic group of past Stampede Royalty. We partner with the Stampede family, the public, corporate Calgary and the special needs community to provide special needs children with fun, safe and memorable Western experiences in a nurturing and supportive environment. The Calgary Stampede Queens’ Alumni hosts four annual Giddy-Up events:
Children enjoy Christmas cheer at a late morning brunch filled with hayrides, Christmas carols and a visit from Santa Claus.
An interactive rodeo where participants are paired with a volunteer cowgirl or cowboy to spend the morning exploring various rodeo events in the Stampede Corral rodeo arena.
A Stampede-time pancake breakfast for over 400 children on the Stampede grounds. Activities after breakfast include meeting mascots, listening to a marching band and riding on midway rides.
Each year, the Queens’ Alumni and the Calgary Stampede Foundation host an exciting Gala evening complete with silent and live auctions, dinner and dancing. The funds raised from this evening go to support organizations within the special needs community. Since inception, the Gala has raised over $1,000,000! Yahoo!
