The Calgary Stampede is The Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth, and this year will be held from July 9-18, 2010. The charm, warmth and history of Alberta’s west have attracted crowds to the Calgary Stampede since its inception in 1912. The Stampede is better experienced than described and for this reason, the Calgary Stampede Queens’ Alumni Committee invites Visiting Rodeo Royalty to attend the 2010 Calgary Stampede.
A volunteer from the Calgary Stampede Queens’ Alumni Committee is looking forward to hosting you for one (1) day during your visit. These women are representatives of the Stampede organization, and will have knowledge of the daily events on and off the park; will show you the sights and sounds of the Stampede and ensure you are punctual for the Rodeo and your introduction.
A guest pass will be extended to your court (Royalty) and one (1) chaperone (please note that these passes provide standing room only); unfortunately we are unable to extend those same privileges to family members or additional guests from your organization. Additionally, we can only recognize and extend privileges to reigning rodeo titles, not those from the previous year. If you wish to purchase tickets for yourself and/or family members who might be traveling with you, please call our Grandstand Ticket Office, toll free at 1.800.661.1767 or order on line at http://cs.calgarystampede.com/tickets/.
We introduce visiting Rodeo Royalty at the afternoon Rodeo performance only on the day you are officially hosted. Introductions are made from the Grandstand stage, as the format of our Rodeo does not allow this to be done on horseback.
There are several opportunities and venues for public appearances. Introductions are made on stage at most venues and visiting Royalty is often encouraged to say a few words about themselves and their organization.
July 9, 2010 – The Stampede Parade, starts at 9 a.m. in the downtown area of the city. If you wish to appear in the parade, entry forms can be found at http://www.calgarystampedeparade.com. The deadline for applications for the 2010 Calgary Stampede Parade is Thursday, April 1, 2010.
July 12, 2010 - An invitation will be extended to you on behalf of the Calgary Stampede Queens’ Alumni for the Giddy-Up Grits. This event hosts approximately 300 special needs children from the Calgary area, along with
their families, for a morning of pancakes, entertainment and midway rides!
The Country Inn & Suites, Calgary Airport is our host hotel and will reserve a number of rooms for visiting royalty during the Stampede. A Suite has a common living room with a pullout bed, in addition to a private bedroom with 2 queen beds, with a corporate rate of $139/night (CDN). A Standard room has one room with two queen beds, with a corporate rate of $124/night (CDN). Please book your rooms prior to May 30, 2010 to ensure availability. A complimentary continental breakfast is also available each morning to guests. It is imperative that the Stampede receives your application prior to May 15, 2010. To fill out the on line application click here. Or to download a printable version click here. Adequate contact information (address, phone, fax and/or email) is expected in order to properly communicate with your party on their travel plans and other arrangements. If a response is received after this date, the above noted plans WILL NOT be guaranteed. You will receive a confirmation by June 1, 2010.
