Ideally breastfeeding is encouraged for the first 12 months of a child’s life. Breastfeeding and weaning is a specific choice and the right time and factors to do it will be different for each individual.
Often the child chooses the time is right. In other scenarios, the mom will feel the time is right for weaning.
You can either do cold turkey and stop breastfeeding completely over night or wean gradually. We suggest progressive weaning from breastfeeding as it is much more gentle on the mother and not as unpleasant. Continue weaning from breastfeeding with this pattern until your breasts are managing the modification and not aching.
